There are Angels Hovering Round is one of the songs the Evergreen Singers sang for both me and my husband, Tom. It was not only a beautiful piece of music, but a true description of the Evergreen Singers. They came, they adapted to the situation of the day, they lifted my spirits, they soothed my soul and Tom smiled every time, even if he was sleeping. My only regret is that my voice is not strong enough to sing with them and bring angels to other hospice patients. - H. C.
I appreciated very much the special time that Evergreen
Singers spent with my mother in law. She was surrounded by family members and
beautiful music. She was a very creative person in her own right, very private
and not outwardly religious. Evergreen created, in my view, a sacred space that
honored her life and passing. - M. L.
What Evergreen means to singers
Singing with Evergreen is a multifaceted joy. This is a group of compassionate, musical singers who care for each other as well as the people to whom we sing. The music repertoire provides a range of spiritual and affirming gifts. Even rehearsals augment the group dynamic. And singing to people whose lives are ending is poignant every single time; it is always a privilege and a pleasure. - S. S. In all of our singing experiences over the years, both individually
and together, none have been as satisfying nor have they touched our souls more
than singing in the presence of those who are nearing the end of their
lives. As Evergreen Singers, we are not
performing. We are reaching out to touch
the souls of others. - S. & B. P.
